We are so excited to partner with River Run Country Club again for the Make an Impact Golf-a-thon Presented by Novant Health. This year's event is August 30th and our fifth time doing a not so typical golf event. We bring members of the community together to see how many holes of golf they can play, while raising funds to impact the lives of local children. We host this golf event similar to a walk or run a thon where golfers go out to their friends and neighbors and raise pledges per hole then try to play as many holes as possible, in turn raising as much money as possible. Our goal this year is to raise $35,000 which will go a long way in helping children in North Carolina in need. For more information visit our event site.
Today we at the Make an Impact Foundation (MAIF), along with the Gene Haas Foundation, Home Depot Foundation, Barclays and other sponsors unveiled the new playground design for our next #KidsPlay playground, this time in Las Vegas. This playground is in partnership with KVVU Fox 5 and the Mayor’s Fund for Las Vegas LIFE is in Gary Reese Freedom Park. The park will feature play equipment from Miracle Recreation, a pioneer in manufacturing thrilling playgrounds for nearly a century. The new playground will feature classic equipment such as swings and slides, and innovative elements like sensory play panels, fitness climbers, as well as a custom helmet climber with a tranquil space underneath. MAIF partners with organizations to create places where all kids have equal opportunity and ability to play freely without barriers. The #LVKidsPlay build is no different; to make this exciting new play space a reality, we partnered with [...]
The Gene Haas Foundation is all about supporting the needs of local communities. What better community to support than a community near the future headquarters of Haas Automation? Gene Haas Foundation supported the #LVKidsPlay Playground Project, a partnership between Fox 5 Las Vegas Super Build and the Make an Impact Foundation. With the help of amazing sponsors and the community, children and families will have a brand-new playground with something for all ages at Gary Reese Park in Las Vegas. The Make an Impact Foundation cannot thank the Gene Haas Foundation enough for their support and partnership. See more about the build below. Gene Haas Foundation Playground Clip
In partnership with Safe Kids Iredell we are excited to offer this amazing resource to all families. So many times it is second nature to keep our kids safe and we don't even think about it until after tragedy strikes. Please use this guide to help prepare to keep all kids safe. A Parents Guide to Child Safety
There are many valid reasons to build a playground especially in today’s times. Let us give you just two reasons: 1) to give children of all races, creeds, and colors a safe place to play together and 2) to build community through education and inclusion instead of tearing them down with barriers and restrictions. This playground could become a place of healing and remembrance. A safe place to play is pretty self-explanatory but facts and studies show children (pre-COVID) spent 7 hours plus per day in front of a screen. But only 5% of children age 6-17 got 60 minutes of play a day, which is the federally recommended amount of exercise per day a child should get. Add to that doctors and psychologists alike, say children need free play to strengthen their physical, mental, and emotional capacities. A playground provides a solution to these problems, giving children somewhere to [...]

Camp EDvantage was a free camp for kids in the Lake Norman area who didn’t have the required technology or a safe environment to participate in required virtual learning for school. Camp was held Monday - Thursday from 8:30a - 1p at First Baptist Church Cornelius. With the help of Choplins and Angels & Sparrows we were able to provide food and snacks to all students while they attended camp. We saw over 50 kids from multiple schools and grades across the Lake Norman area from August to December. We couldn't have successfully completed camp without the church allowing us to use the space and the many volunteers who dedicated their time to making an impact in the lives of these local children. Thank you to EDU Healthcare and the local donors who helped financially make this camp a reality. Here's to making an impact during a pandemic.
