Impact Explorers

Middle School Career Exploration (Rising 6th–8th Grade)

Student / Intern Highlights

  • Age: Students must be high school aged, 16-18 years old. The program is open to rising
juniors, seniors, and recent high school graduates for the upcoming school year.
  • Career Interest: Open to all students interested in all sectors, including but not limited to
manufacturing, skilled trades, technology, marketing, human resources, engineering, real
estate, government, etc.
  • Location: Students should reside in or attend public, home schools, private, or charter
schools Iredell or Mecklenburg Counties.
  • Availability: Students must be able to complete 160 hours of internship work. Employers
will be semi-flexible for the interns regarding schedules. Approximately 12-20 hours per week depending on start and end dates from June to August.
  • Commitment: Participants are expected to start on their committed date, though schedules
may be semi-flexible. Students are required to attend Wednesday Workshops from 10:30 am- 12:30 pm throughout the internship (June-August). Students MUST attend the onboarding session.
  • Application process: Students must complete an online application by the deadline date with no exceptions. All students must submit a recent transcript, attendance records and two adult recommendations from a teacher, coach, mentor, church, etc..
  • Interview: Shortlisted applicants will participate in focus groups in May for final
selection.
  • Additional Perks of Internship: Transportation and uniform reimbursement available, as needed.
