What an amazing week at Drones2Jets Aviation ACE Camp. Students in fifth to ninth grades got the opportunity to learn so many different career options and see/tour airplanes of different sizes. Students started off by learning from the North Carolina Aviation department in how they use drones, aviation and the different careers involved in both of those segments. A local aviation company, Victory Air showed students a behind the scenes look at how they use their fleet to fly so many people, including NASCAR teams around the country. Jet East allowed the students to go step by step through their maintenance process from the time an organization agrees to use them to the time the organization’s plane leaves their facility. Local Statesville residents brought their hot air balloon to show students another facet in aviation. NASCAR driver, Brett Moffit brought out his RC airplane to show the students they can enjoy aviation as a less financially involved hobby. Local EAA pilot, Tim Huneycutt flew his experimental aircraft into the Statesville Regional Airport and shared his career knowledge with the students. Students participated in a pinning ceremony complete with call signs and wing pins.
We can’t thank our partners enough for such great opportunities for these kids.
